چکیده

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the transverse strength of three kinds of heat-cured acrylic resin (Meliodent HC, Acron HC, Lucitone 199); one kind of microwave-cured acrylic resin (Acron MC); one kind of visible light-cured resin (Triad VLC); and one kind of self-cured acrylic resin (Meliodent SC). Method: A total of 60 specimens (65 mm x 10 mm x 3 mm) were fabricated, ten from each material. The specimens were loaded until failure on a three-point bending test machine. For statistical analysis, Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Dunn’s multiple comparison test were used. Results: The transverse strength values showed statistically significant differences among experimental groups (P=0.0001). The mean transverse strength (MPa) was as follows in decreasing order: Acron MC, Meliodent HC, Acron HC, Lucitone 199, Meliodent SC, Triad VLC. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, Acron MC showed the highest mean transverse strength value among the materials tested.

Comparative Evaluation of the Flexural Strength of Heat Polymerized Acrylic Resin with the Addition of 8% and 13% Aluminum Oxide Powder: An In-vitro Study

Introduction: Acrylic resins have been used successfully as denture bases. However, acrylic resin denture base materials are brittle and have poor strength and thermal conductivity. Therefore, it is essential to improve the flexural strength of heat polymerized acrylic resin. The present study aimed to evaluate and compare the flexural strength of heated polymerized acrylic res...

Silver nanoparticle incorporation effect on mechanical and thermal properties of denture base acrylic resins

Objective The aim of the present study was to evaluate the mechanical and thermal characteristics of two denture base acrylic resins containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Material and Methods Two different acrylic denture base resins (heat-polymerized and microwave polymerized) containing 0.3, 0.8 and 1.6 wt% AgNPs were evaluated for flexural strength, elastic modulus and impact strength. ...

Comparative study of flexural strength of four acrylic resins before and after thermocycling process

Objectives Acrylic resins are one of the most important denture base materials in dentistry due to their favourable mechanical and physical properties. The purpose of present study is to compare 4 available acrylic flexural strength properties before and after thermocycling. Methods Acrylic resin specimens of Meliodent (Heraeus Kulzer, Hanau, Germany), Vertex (Vertex-dental BV, Zeist, Netherla...

A comparative evaluation of impact strength of conventionally heat cured and high impact heat cured polymethyl methacrylate denture base resins: an in vitro study.

UNLABELLED The denture bases made by using polymethyl methacrylates of Acrylic resin family have excellent physical properties, simple to process and easy to reline, rebase and repair. One of the inherent disadvantages of this material is the liability to break during function. The strength assessment of acrylic resins have been made generally by transverse defection tests. AIM To evaluate th...
